Homes For Humanity
The Homes For Humanity Program is a partnership between GMAC Real Estate and Habitat For Humanity which commenced on January 1, 2008. GMAC Real Estate offices throughout Canada support local and National initiatives by Habitat For Humanity to provide affordable housing to deserving families throughout the country.
GMAC Real Estate (Canada) has entered into the largest multi year commitment of this kind between Habitat For Humanity Canada and a National Real Estate company. We have set a goal to fund the construction of 2 homes per year for the next four years which represents a total of 8 homes in the communities which we serve.
GMAC Real Estate franchisee's and salespeople alike participate in the Homes For Humanity Program by donating a portion of the commissions to Habitat for Humanity from each home bought or sold to support their effort to provide affordable housing and support our local communities.
Should you choose to allow a GMAC Real Estate Salesperson from our national network of highly skilled, full service real estate professionals to represent you in the sale of your home. With your permission a Habitat For Humanity For sale sign rider will be added to the for sale sign placed on your property which includes the Habitat for Humanity logo. This will tell others in the community that you have chosen a Realtor that supports local charity!
Habitat for Humanity's implementation of their vision and commitment provides families in need with the ability to repay a no-interest, no-profit mortgage work alongside Habitat for Humanity volunteers to build their own homes. This “hand up, not hand out” based program is carried out in every region of Canada by 70 affiliates. Partnerships with individual and corporate partners have helped build more than 1,000 houses in Canada to date, with building capacity increasing.
Currently 1.7 million Canadians live without adequate or affordable housing. Around the world, since its inception in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 200,000 houses in 100 countries, with a new Habitat for Humanity house being dedicated every 24 minutes.
